Hiking in Japan
There are a lot of mountains all over Japan. One of the big personality of Japan island is that ocean and mountain are very close to each other.
The tallest mountain in Japan is Mt. Fuji (3,776m) and it's usually open in July and August. If you are normal-speed hiker, it will take ~6 hours to climb it and another ~5 hours to come down. It's recommended to start climbing early morning, then you will get back by the evening on the same day. Staying in one of the lodges on the way to the top is not recommended because it's just one big room for 20-30 people and you won't be able to sleep well.
